Overview
This article covers the full onboarding process for new Clue Labs users, from creating an account through to connecting your Instagram and accessing your dashboard.
Step 1: Creating Your Account
Go to cluelabs.co.uk and click Get Started.
Enter your email address and click Send Magic Link.
Check your inbox for a one-time PIN or magic link. You can either:
Click the magic link directly in the email, or
Enter the six-digit PIN on the login screen.
Once verified, you will be taken into the onboarding flow.
Note: If you do not receive the email within a few minutes, check your spam folder. You can request a new PIN from the login screen by clicking I don't have my pin, send me a new one.
Step 2: Setting Up Your Brand
Clue Labs needs a few details about your brand before it can start generating insights. This is a five-step process.
Step 2a: Enter Your Website URL
Enter your website URL in the field provided and click Let's go.
Clue Labs will begin analysing your website in the background while you
answer a few quick questions.
Step 2b: Answer Four Quick Questions
You will be asked:
What is your main goal on social media? (Brand awareness / Drive sales / Build community / Grow my audience)
Who is your primary audience? (Young professionals / Business owners / General consumers / Industry experts)
What is your brand's vibe? (Bold & energetic / Calm & trustworthy / Fun & playful / Premium & sophisticated)
How often do you want to post? (Daily / A few times a week / Weekly / Just getting started)
Tap your answer for each question and click Let's go to proceed.
Step 2c: SAM vs The Algorithm Aliens
While Clue Labs finishes analysing your website, SAM — our AI analyst — will keep you entertained. Watch the game or enjoy the video while your brand profile is built automatically in the background.
Step 2d: Review Your Brand Profile
Once the analysis is complete, your brand profile will be pre-filled with information pulled directly from your website, including:
Brand name
Brand description
Industry
Brand voice
Tone
Primary topic
Review all fields carefully and edit anything that is inaccurate or incomplete before saving. This information is used to personalise your content ideas, Newsjacking briefs, and Wild Card suggestions, so accuracy here matters.
Step 2e: Upload Your Logo
Upload your brand logo. This is optional but helps Clue Labs identify your brand more accurately.
Click Next to continue.
Step 2f: Select Your Industry
Choose the industry that best describes your brand from the list provided.
This automatically subscribes you to the most relevant news sources for your daily Newsjacking briefs.
Click Finish to complete onboarding.
Step 3: Connect Your Instagram Account
After completing onboarding you will land on your Clue Labs dashboard. To start receiving insights, you need to connect your Instagram account.
Follow the prompt on the dashboard to Connect Instagram.
You will be directed to log in to your Instagram account via Facebook/Meta.
Grant the required permissions when prompted.
Once connected, Clue Labs will begin pulling in your data.
Note: Clue Labs requires a Instagram Business or Creator account connected to a Facebook Page. Personal Instagram accounts cannot be connected. If you need help switching your account type, visit Instagram's help centre.
Step 4: Check Your Brand Settings
Once your Instagram is connected you are ready to go. Before diving in, it is worth taking a moment to check your brand settings are correct:
Go to Settings > Brand Profile
Confirm your brand description, tone, voice, and industry are accurate
Make any edits and save
Your brand settings directly influence the quality and relevance of your content ideas, so keeping them up to date is important — especially if your focus or audience changes over time.
You're In
Once your Instagram is connected your dashboard will begin populating with data. You can expect to see:
Clue Score — your weekly algorithm health score, updated every Monday
Newsjacking briefs — two fresh content ideas each morning based on trending news
Wild Card — a one-off content idea you can generate at any time
Growth Tracker — your follower and reach trends over time
Common Questions
I did not receive my magic link or PIN. Check your spam folder. If it is not there, return to the login screen and click I don't have my pin, send me a new one to request a new one.
My brand profile details are wrong after the auto-fill. You can edit any field in the brand profile before saving during onboarding, or at any time afterwards via Settings > Brand Profile.
I cannot connect my Instagram account. Make sure your Instagram account is set to Business or Creator and is linked to a Facebook Page. Personal accounts cannot be connected. If you are still having trouble, contact us via the in-app chat.
My Clue Score is not showing yet. Clue Scores are generated every Monday. If you have just connected your account, your first score will appear on the following Monday.
Can I change my industry after onboarding? Yes. Go to Settings > Brand Profile and update your industry at any time. This will update your Newsjacking news sources accordingly.
