Whether you’re waiting for our full in-app performance tracking feature or just love a good spreadsheet, here’s how to measure your success with Clue.Labs — and prove what content is actually working, right now.
📊 The Method
Clue.Labs analyses every piece of content you post and categorises it by where it sits in the customer journey — also known as your funnel.
We use four stages:
🔵 Awareness — content that reaches new people
🟡 Interest — content that sparks curiosity
🟠 Consideration — content that deepens value and builds trust
🟢 Conversion — content that drives high-intent actions like profile clicks, DMs, and website visits
To track your own performance manually, you’ll need two things:
Post-by-post insights from Instagram
Go to the individual post
Tap the blue "View Insights" button underneath
Record the numbers for each metric listed below (you can use our example template)
Channel-level insights from your platform’s analytics dashboard
Instagram: Profile > Insights > Last 7 Days
LinkedIn: Analytics > Followers / Visitors / Content
TikTok: Creator Tools > Analytics > Content / Overview
✅ KPI Mapping Table
Here’s how to connect Instagram’s insights with Clue.Labs’ funnel logic:
First off we would suggest you use this spreadsheet as your baseline or create your own using the logic metrics below:
Metric (from IG Post Insights) | Clue.Labs Funnel Stage | What It Tells You |
Likes | 🟠 Consideration | Indicates your existing audience found the content valuable enough to double-tap. |
Comments | 🟠 Consideration | Signals thoughtfulness or conversation — deeper engagement from followers. |
Shares | 🟡 Interest | People found it worth passing on — often to others who don’t yet follow you. |
Saves | 🟠 Consideration | They want to come back to it — strong signal of content depth or utility. |
Views (video plays) | 🔵 Awareness | You were seen — content appeared in front of someone, even if they didn’t interact. |
Follower Views | 🟡 Interest | Indicates existing audience is engaging with your content — you’re retaining interest. |
Non-Follower Views | 🔵 Awareness | You reached new people — signals content broke out of your bubble. |
Accounts Reached | 🔵 Awareness | Total exposure — especially useful when comparing follower vs non-follower split. |
% Higher/Lower Than Typical Views | 🟠 Consideration | Stronger-than-usual view patterns = a repeatable formula or format to note. |
Profile Visits | 🟢 Conversion | People were curious enough to check you out — a big nudge toward action. |
Link Clicks | 🟢 Conversion | They went beyond your profile to visit a site, book a call, or learn more. |
Follows | 🟡 Interest | Turned passive viewers into community — a key mid-funnel success metric. |
Watch Time % (Reels) | 🟠 Consideration | Longer watch time = high-quality or captivating content they wanted to finish. |
🧠 How to Find the Patterns (Using ChatGPT)
Here’s how to take your spreadsheet and turn it into insight:
Fill out your spreadsheet with metrics from the post insights.
Make sure each post has a date and post type (Reel, carousel, story, etc.)
Upload your spreadsheet into ChatGPT.
Ask questions like:
"Which content drove the highest conversion this week?"
"Which posts exceeded the Awareness baseline by 20% or more?"
"What patterns do you see in video performance vs carousel posts?"
This gives you a real-time analysis engine while we build more tracking automation inside the product.
🔁 Want to Go Deeper?
You can take this a step further by connecting it with your website analytics. If you use Google Analytics, you’ll be able to:
Track how much traffic Instagram (or other platforms) are sending to your site
Measure what pages people land on from your social content
See how long they stay and what actions they take
Just check your Acquisition > Traffic Sources > Social > Instagram report over the same date range as your content campaign. This will let you connect the dots between content and actual on-site behaviour.
