Sam is Clue Labs' AI
Sam is the AI that powers Clue Labs' content generation. The intelligence behind your campaign post suggestions, your creative briefs, your Newsjacking content ideas, and your Wild Card suggestions.
When you finish setting up a campaign and click Finish, Sam gets to work. Sam reads your account data, your growth goal, your brand profile, your campaign objectives, and what the algorithm is currently rewarding for accounts like yours — and generates a full set of post suggestions with detailed creative briefs for every post in your campaign.
Sam is not a generic AI writing tool. Sam doesn't produce content from a prompt. Sam produces content recommendations from data — your data specifically, combined with Clue Labs' understanding of how social media algorithms distribute content.
What Sam does
Generates campaign post suggestions For every campaign you create, Sam produces a complete set of post briefs — one for each post in your campaign calendar. Each brief includes the format, the strategic angle, the visual direction, the caption framework, the reasoning behind the recommendation, and (for video and carousel posts) detailed production guidance.
Generates Newsjacking briefs Every morning, Sam produces two content ideas built around real trending news stories matched to your brand. Sam monitors what's happening in the world, filters it through your brand profile and niche, and generates a reactive content brief you can act on the same day.
Generates Wild Card ideas When you need a one-off post idea outside your campaign, Sam generates a single unexpected content idea on demand — something deliberately different from your usual content pattern.
Powers Next Suggestions Sam reads your performance data continuously and generates ongoing post recommendations based on what's working, what your audience responds to, and what your current growth goal is.
What Sam doesn't do
Sam doesn't write your captions Sam provides a Context / Caption framework — the substance and structure of what the caption should say. Writing the actual caption in your brand voice is your job. Sam gives you the brief. You bring the personality.
Sam doesn't post on your behalf Clue Labs never publishes content to your social media accounts. Sam generates briefs and recommendations. You and your team create and publish the content.
Sam doesn't make things up Every recommendation Sam generates is grounded in real inputs — your account data, your brand profile, your campaign objectives. Sam works with what Sam is given. If those inputs are vague or incomplete, the output will reflect that. See the Brand Settings article for how to make sure Sam has everything Sam needs.
Sam doesn't replace your judgement Sam's suggestions are recommendations, not instructions. Use the Reasoning field in every brief to understand why Sam made each recommendation. Over time, understanding Sam's logic helps you develop better instincts about your content strategy — even beyond what you create in Clue Labs.
Why is the AI called Sam?
Sam stands for Social Algorithm Machine. They are named after the thing Sam does — reading and interpreting social media algorithm signals to produce content recommendations that are likely to perform.
Common questions
Can I give Sam feedback on Sam's suggestions? Not directly within a suggestion. If a campaign's output consistently doesn't feel right, the most effective feedback mechanism is improving your Brand Settings and campaign objectives — that's what Sam reads. See the Brand Settings article and the article on why your first campaign might feel generic.
Does Sam learn over time? Sam's recommendations improve as your account data grows. The more posts you publish and the more performance data Clue Labs accumulates for your account, the more precisely Sam can tailor suggestions to what actually works for your specific audience.
Will Sam get more capable over time? Yes. Sam's capabilities will expand as Clue Labs develops — including more specific format suggestions, additional platform support, and deeper personalisation as the data layer matures.
