Why does my campaign say "Content Generation In Progress"?

What this article covers: What "Content Generation In Progress" means, how long it takes, and what to do if something doesn't seem right.

When you finish setting up a campaign and click Finish, you'll see your campaign dashboard appear with a banner reading Content Generation In Progress and a notification that Sam is working on your campaign.

This is normal. It means Sam is generating your full set of post suggestions — reading your account data, your growth goal, your campaign objectives, and your brand profile, and building a creative brief for every post in your campaign calendar.

How long does it take?

For most campaigns, generation completes in under two minutes. Longer campaigns (closer to the 60-day maximum) with detailed objectives may take a little longer as Sam has more briefs to generate.

You don't need to stay on the page while Sam works. You can navigate away and come back — your campaign will be ready when you return.

What to do if generation seems stuck

If you return to your campaign after several minutes and it still shows Content Generation In Progress with no posts appearing, try the following:

  1. Refresh the page.

  2. If posts still haven't appeared after refreshing, close the campaign and reopen it from the Campaign List.

  3. If the campaign still shows no posts after 10 minutes, contact the team via the chat icon in the bottom right of the platform.

In most cases a refresh is all that's needed.

Why are some posts appearing before generation is complete?

Sam generates posts sequentially and they appear as they're created — so you may see the first few briefs before the full set is ready. This is normal. Wait until the Content Generation In Progress banner disappears before working through your posts, to make sure you have the complete set.

Common questions

Can I start working on posts before generation is complete? You can open posts that have already appeared, but it's worth waiting for the full set before prioritising or sequencing your content — the later posts in the campaign may be relevant to how you order the earlier ones.

Will my campaign generate again if I refresh? No. Refreshing the page just reloads what Sam has already generated. It won't trigger a new generation or overwrite existing posts.

What if I want to regenerate my campaign with different objectives? Delete the campaign and create a new one. Update your objectives with more specific detail before regenerating — see the related article on why suggestions might not feel right.
